The short answer is no, we ask that you attach the file to your email instead of sharing a link to the file.
There are a few reasons we ask for you to do this:
- You can accidentally remove or even change the shared file. Unlike an email attachment, which is always going to stay the same. Online cloud files can usually be edited and easily deleted. This can lead to confusion and misunderstandings, such as an engraving spreadsheet with additional names being added unbeknownst to our team.
- There are often permission issues. Unfortunately, even when we are confident that we allowed access to the file we shared, sometimes this ends up not being the case. This causes time delays as we must contact you and wait to try again until we can access the file.
- With the variety of online cloud storage platforms available, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and iCloud to name a few. It is simply unrealistic for our team to hold accounts for each service, which is often required for access.
Thank you for taking the time to understand why we do not accept sharing of files by a link.
Please, simply attach the file you have been asked to share with us in its original format to your email.
Note: Some files are specific to the brand of device you are using, an example being the Apple image file HEIC. We ask, when possible, that you try to use a more universal format such as JPEG or PNG.
